Ancyra by Continent Hotel Poso

The staff were friendly, but management needs to lose their jobs. Our room had no windows, and there was loud karaoke until midnight, despite the homepage advertising soundproof windows. The beds were clean, though the walls and bathroom were dirty. The shower never got warm, and the WiFi stayed broken even after I complained. Laundry service was very overpriced.

They upgraded our no-window standard room to a superior room for free at check-in, which was nice. But the towels were dirty, and the building seemed poorly maintained: there was a slight odor in the hallway, room, bathroom, and elevator, plus wallpaper coming loose. We chose the hotel because it was connected to the mall, then found out the mall was closed for the Eid holiday. We also learned it has no supermarket, though there is CFC, a food court, and other places. An extra pillow cost Rp 50.000.

I left my wallet behind and the hotel staff called me two hours after checkout to say they’d found it in my room. I’m grateful for that, honesty is precious. I don’t know where or when I dropped it, and it held 5M IDR but no ID card. The room was clean, if a bit small, the hot water worked, and breakfast was good. They also have a prayer room (mushala). I liked the hotel and will come back.

The rooms are small, and the walls are thin, so weekends might get noisy. Still, it’s very clean, with a good mattress, working AC, free WiFi, Indonesian TV channels, and a proper bathroom with a hot shower. Service is friendly, and breakfast is included, Indonesian style, with lots of tasty choices, including breads. It’s next to small mall Poso, which has CFC chicken fast food, a DIY shop, IGN cinema Poso (see Instagram), a toddler playground, and cheap clothes stands. Best hotel in Poso.
