Bali Sari Homestay

Our room was pretty okay, and the air conditioning and fredge were a plus. The hostel needs more upkeep and regular cleaning though. Please clean under the bed!

At check-in I was friendly and spoke bahasa, but got side looks and a bad attitude from the hosts. The room was nearly as nasty as the staff, with a broken lamp, bloodstains on the linens and a moldy smell. When I pointed these things out, they told me they DO NOT CARE. It was pretty clear they didn’t. Avoid!

The neighbours were really noisy, and there was a bad smell in the air. I stayed in this hostel months ago, so I don’t know if the same guy still works there. At the time, he was on his phone instead of working, and didn’t clean the room unless you requested it. Then he’d decide whether he was going to do it. The place badly needed cleaning and maintenance. If you’re staying in a shared room, know that the photos don’t match the real place. The door couldn’t be locked, and anyone could come in. That happened while I was there. The kitchen was super dirty, nothing like the pictures, and there was no fridge. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you don’t mind the cleaning issues and lazy staff.

I stayed at Bali Sari Homestay for five weeks and was treated really well. It’s a typical locally owned homestay right on the beach, with a wonderful, quiet location. My room was spacious, cozy and clean, the staff were always helpful, and the linens and towels were changed regularly. The fridge worked super efficiently too. Breakfast had a good variety, made with fresh ingredients and local fruits. The price for my stay was fair. I’d recommend this place to travelers who want a relaxing, quiet vacation and to support the local community. Thank you, Nyoman and the team! ☀️
