Local Hostel Amed

Harry’s family are lovely, and they have a nice restaurant downstairs. I had a good time at the hostel, mostly because of the nice people and the atmosphere while I was there. It’s a basic place: an okay room with ac, and very simple toilets and showers that could be better maintained. It’s also close to the main street, which is really noisy. For the price, though, it’s good, and I’d stay a third time 😊👍🏽

Rooms are spacious, with huge lockers, roomy self-contained beds, AC, and a cute terrace. Downstairs there’s a warung with a varied, delicious menu that mixes local and Western food. As a vegetarian, grilled eggplant with peanut sauce was the best! The place has an authentic local feel and boasting views of the Volcano and the mountains. The location is top notch, and riding a scooter to and from Amed is a pleasure, with the volcano and rice paddies along the way. I highly recommend it.

The view from the hostel was amazing, and the staff were lovely. The rooms and bathrooms were a different story: there was a mouse in my room, the bathrooms hadn’t been cleaned, the drains were blocked, and the toilets smelled. Nobody told me there wouldn’t be anyone running the hostel, so there was no food available there during the last 2 days of my stay.

The family who runs the place is awesome. Prices are affordable, the showers and toilets were great, and I slept really well. You can rent snorkeling gear there and go on your own to the corals and japanese wrench. There’s also space on the roof for yoga and meditation. Recommended!
