Lucky Paradise Bungalows on The Beach

If you want to sit right by the beach in the middle of Amed, this is the place. My room was big and spacious, with all the facilities you need, and there’s a shared kitchen with a fridge for everyone. Great value for the price. The owner is a top-notch guy, replies super quickly to texts, and you can tell he puts in every effort to make sure you have the best stay. I was here for 5 nights. I often return to Amed for diving, so this won’t be my last stay.

We lost sleep on two nights because other guests kept partying in the communal kitchen, drinking beer, playing music, and making noise. I asked them to quiet down at 2am and again at 4:30am. The manager apologized the next day, but nothing changed and it happened again the following night. I know those guests weren't the hotel's responsibility, but stricter rules, someone on site, or a night guard might have helped. When I asked to leave and get a refund for the two nights, I was told the booking was non-refundable. The location is fantastic, and Nyoman and family were welcoming and did what they could. Still, after five nights with our party of five, including two young children, and three rooms, the condition of the place made it poor value. The rooms were badly maintained, with what looked like termite or water damage. In one room the bathroom door was so swollen it wouldn't shut, and one bathroom had an open ceiling. There were a few stains on the sheets, which didn't bother us as long as most of the bedding was clean, but the towels need replacing. The pool was murky and unusable because its pump usually wasn't running. I was told it switched on automatically for five hours a day, but that wasn't what I saw. With small children, I worried they could get sick in that water. I first posted a review on Booking.com while angrier than I am now. The manager contacted me on WhatsApp and said I was ruining his life and would leave his children without school or food. I felt awful and deleted it, though in hindsight I still wanted to share the review. Reviews are a big part of how I decide where to book, and I know the difference between a two-star and five-star place. This could be a great guest house in a superb spot, but it needs a major renovation, and cleanliness and pool condition matter. I hope management takes the feedback on board and improves things for future guests. I wish them well.

We had a lovely time at Lucky Paradise. From our private patio we could enjoy the ocean view, and the room was spacious, with cold AC and a bathtub. The little pool was refreshing and right by the beach. Staff were so kind and helpful. There are lots of places to eat nearby, or you can make dinner in the shared kitchen. It was nice to watch sunrise and sunset or walk along the shore. I'd happily return and recommend the place.

A good spot for a night by the beach, and the price is about the same as nearby places. The management looks after the guests, though sadly the property itself doesn't seem to get that care. It's poorly maintained, and the dirty pool wasn't suitable for swimming. Luckily, the beach is right in front.
