Wayan was wonderful, with really good customer service and a willingness to help, even when a few things were quite a bit of trouble. The place is private, nicely decorated, near the beach, and good value. Construction next door made the noise come and go, though hopefully that won't last forever. Our room, the middle of three, was really good, but the bathroom is open to outside without a fly screen, so mosquitos can get in. The mattress was awful and well past its use-by date. I woke up in pain until day 5 of our 19-day stay, when I asked if we could change it. To their credit, they said they'd buy a new one and bring it the next day. The other two rooms had good mattresses, we checked after their guests left. One suggestion: be clear about when you don't want the room cleaned. Sometimes we agreed while we were there, other times we declined and Wayan asked me to message her on WhatsApp when we wanted it cleaned. I agreed, but a number of days later we came back from a day out to find it had been cleaned, which really didn't work for us. I guess that's a good problem to have. We mostly liked our stay.

A cute little room, tidy, clean and comfortable, with a pretty interior and nice-smelling linen. It's close to the beach. We'll definitely be back.

The room was a better deal after we negotiated to leave out breakfast, which saved us a bit. Compared with other places we've stayed in Indonesia, this homestay really stands out for cleanliness and comfortable furniture. It also has a kettle, fridge and free water refills for our bottles. Roosters and boats make noise early in the morning, but that's to be expected anywhere. There's a construction site on the way in that makes getting in and out inconvenient, though hopefully it's temporary.

Wayan was an amazing host. Every morning she made us a delicious breakfast, which we ate with a sea view, and she got us a scooter within minutes, like magic. She always made sure everything was right. Our room was cleaned daily, and drinking water was available all the time. We stayed a couple of nights to explore the reefs around Amed at Shooting Star Homestay, and loved it. For a morning coffee or tea, book a sea view room and watch the fishing boats come back. I'd recommend this homestay to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Amed!

The owners are lovely, the rooms are really cozy, and the little garden is beautiful. Breakfast was well done, and you can find everything you need close by, between the beach and main street. There are also some Bars nearby with loud live music. The beach at jameluk bay was really dirty, and boats were blocking the sea all over.
