Kampung Sampireun Resort & Spa

Kampung Sampireun is a quiet, relaxing place to get away for a few days. The rooms are kept up well, and when something needs fixing, it gets handled quickly. Wi-Fi was great, and the hot showers felt especially good in the cool high altitude weather. The staff were caring and very helpful, clearly focused on customers and well trained. Two thumbs up. 👍 👍

We went for one night with our baby, and got an upgraded room near the lake and lobby. It had a balcony, guest room, sofa, king size bed, and bathtub. The food was tasty and affordable. The iga bakar was the best, and the nasi liwet serving was big. The service was good, and we enjoyed the peaceful vibe. Such a nice escape from hectic Jakarta 😁

The restaurant was a weak point for me. The food felt expensive for what it was, the welcome drink was almost too sweet, and the aging facilities could use attention. Wi-Fi was weak, lighting in the room was dim, and the bamboo walls let through enough sound that my parents woke to the morning prayers. Without air conditioning, the room could feel stuffy when we shut it to keep mosquitoes out. Brighter lamps and mosquito nets would help guests sleep comfortably, and the food needs better quality and value. Still, the natural setting is striking. The traditional Sundanese buildings sit over a calm lake, with bamboo and wood cottages and walkways blending into the greenery. At night, the insect sounds felt like nature’s own music. Our rustic room was comfortable enough for sleeping, and the hot water worked well in our twin bed room. Nearly everywhere you look there are water views, and getting around by boat is a unique experience.

We loved the peaceful setting, the spacious rooms, the facilities, and being able to take a boat around the lake. Dinner was a letdown, though. It was too salty and too sweet for us, and the chili sambal tasted sweet instead of spicy. I’d still come back.
