ibis Semarang Simpang Lima

Downtown is conveniently close from here, and maybe the price makes it acceptable. But the hotel feels very old and neglected, right down to towel strings coming apart and outdated furniture and equipment. The room cards hardly ever worked. We kept having to return to reception, and replacement cards often didn't work in the executive lifts either.

Parking is the main drawback at ibis Semarang. There isn't much space, so cars are parked elsewhere by valet and you may wait a few minutes for yours to be brought back, which can be inconvenient when you're in a hurry. Otherwise, it’s a comfortable stay at the usual ibis standard, with an affordable rate compared with many Semarang hotels. It's close to Simpang Lima, opposite Tentrem Mall, and there's a minimarket next door for food and everyday things. Water comes from a gallon dispenser, so you don't have to worry about running out. Breakfast is decent and typical for ibis, and Accor members can take away a welcome juice or coffee.

I stayed five days and found the room really lovely and cozy. The staff were amazing, and the valet guys were very helpful. Parking needs improvement, though. Space is so limited that it must be hard for the valet team to manage. Simpang Lima Semarang is nearby.

As an Accor member, I felt the hotel fell below the brand's standards. The location is the only really great thing about this place.
