The owner made us feel like family and was so welcoming. The place is quiet, and we slept really well each night. From here, Mount Rinjani looks incredible, with a very clear and close view. Our cottage at The Gate was cozy after chilly days in the mountains, and the hot shower was much appreciated. Breakfast came with the stay, and the fluffy pancakes were probably the best we had on the trip. The rest of the food was fresh and delicious too, and you could tell it was made with care. A lovely peaceful place near Rinjani.

It’s a little out of the way from the main street and minimarkets, so bring your own supplies. Still, we had a great time here with friends. We laughed a lot, and even with the cold air, the mood stayed warm and joyful. The lodge was clean and tidy, with a homey feel. Flowers and greenery make it refreshing during the day and cozy at night. We could barbecue and grill, and the staff were friendly and helpful. A peaceful spot for a memorable break with friends or family.

We came to Gate Rinjani in Sembalun for a class gathering, and the flower garden was a highlight for me. I love flowers, and there were passion fruit plants as well as lots of lovely blossoms. The grounds are peaceful and beautiful, making it easy to spend good time with friends. We could also use the bonfire area and get help grilling fish and chicken, which made our farewell night special. There’s no Wi-Fi, but Telkomsel signal worked well enough that staying connected wasn’t a problem. Food here was tasty and affordable. The place is simple, though clean, cozy, and thoughtfully arranged. Staff were warm and welcoming, and Mr. Markus, the manager, was especially responsive and made us feel like family. A nice place for friends, families, or couples to relax and reconnect.

Rinjani is lovely from the cafe. The place is also quiet, which would suit anyone wanting some space, though it’s a long way from the main road and Sembalun village’s main road. There’s no TV. The room was comfortable enough, if a bit small, and the hot water worked well in the cold, misty weather. The owner was friendly and liked to chat. When I asked about renting a motorbike, they found one for me and my friend. It was old but still okay. The menu was limited, but fine for a night or two. This place is about a 10 minute walk from pos 1 pendakian Sembalun, so it’s used by people heading to hike Mount Rinjani.

I stayed here last year, in 2024, and it’s a memorable place. Everything was good, and the people there were amazing. Getting to the location is a bit challenging, so renting a bike is a good idea. Hope you’re doing great, Marco!
