Downtown and close to the ocean, with fair rooms. There’s no breakfast.

The view is great, the location is good, and the staff are friendly. But the price feels too high for the rooms. My bed and sheets weren’t very clean, and I got bitten by bed bugs after the first night of a two-night stay. The hot water didn’t work well, and the shower drained slowly. The lake-view rooms are also a bit noisy because they aren’t well soundproofed. The elevator sometimes gets stuck, and the pool is dirty. Don’t expect too much here.
Wisata Indah hotel has an old-fashioned, quaint feel, and the people are very friendly. It’s right in the heart of Sibolga’s central business area, beside the sea, with a great view across the bayside. The area has remarkable architectural traces of its more than 400-year history as a major trade port on Sumatra’s west coast. We liked being able to walk to Indonesian food, old-style coffee shops, and local markets. There’s plenty to see and do in Sibolga, including the coastal islands, and the hotel has an excellent speedboat service for trips around the port and nearby islands. We had a great time.
The location is very handy, near the city centre, restaurants, and market, and the food is good for this area, with a decent choice of rice, bread, and fruit. The hotel has a swimming pool and private beach, but the beach was very dirty and covered in trash. The building needs major renovation. The room design, bed, and furniture all feel very old. The TV is tiny, maybe 14 or 20 inches, and only has two channels. The bathroom has been renovated recently, but still feels old. Hot water was unreliable, and sometimes the water clogged.
The hotel has a nice view and makes it easy to get to other places. You can head to islands like Poncan Island and Mursala Island from here. The rooms and hotel design are pretty ordinary, and breakfast is sometimes not very tasty, though still edible. If getting around easily matters, I’d recommend it.
