The Laviana Hotel

We came in with high hopes, but left very disappointed. The staff were nice at first, then put us in a room that looked nothing like the pictures. We planned to try one night before committing to five in Lovina, after a run of bad hotels around Bali, and were prepared to move on. Then we realized the room had no TV, although we'd paid extra for one. The staff called the manager, who shouted at them over the phone. Afterward they told us we'd have to pay even more for the TV despite it being advertised. We reluctantly agreed to the upgrade, then learned it was actually a different hotel across the road. That room was disgusting, with damp and mold on every wall up to waist height. The only good thing seemed to be the TV. They'd quoted an extra 250k idr, even though the difference on Agoda was around 100k. There are many better options locally for much better prices. Hope this helps.

The bathroom could use more room for personal items, and there’s not much privacy on the first floor. The staff were lovely, though, and I had a pleasant stay apart from the toilet setup. There’s no bidet spray, and the integrated unit is poor.

The pool needed a proper clean along the bottom, and it turned my blonde children’s hair green. The staff were nice, and we enjoyed eating at the next-door Warung “Sunset Ayu” once we realized the hotel got its meals there apart from breakfast. It was lovely. The hotel is about 1.5 km from town and 200 m from a beach. You can go dolphin watching from there, but I would not recommend it because the dolphins are literally hunted. There are also nice snorkeling spots if you take a boat out.

Breakfast was basic but decent, enough to get going in the morning. I was there on a business trip, and the room was comfortable and clean, with everything working as it should. It was an easy, pleasant stay.
