Hotel Kayu Manis by Zuzu

An affordable spot for meetings and retreats.

The room was damp and poorly maintained. The towels and bath soap weren't fit to use, and don't stick anything to the wall or the paint will peel. At that price, I really can't recommend it.

We booked two rooms, but one bathroom was broken. The staff simply told us to change bathrooms, without apologizing, as though this were normal. We ended up leaving without staying and received no refund. Be careful booking through a travel agent, since you could lose your money if you don't want to stay here, and I guarantee you won't. The rooms were extremely damp and unsuitable, and the staircase was so narrow only one person could use it at a time. The place looked nothing like the photos, and it didn't feel like a hotel at all. Even a guesthouse would be better.

The guard was friendly, which was the one good point. I only needed somewhere to sleep, so it was passable, but there was a lot missing for guests: no drinking water, soap, or toothbrushes. The weekend price of 200 didn't seem expensive, but the door was very hard to lock and there were no clothes hangers. When I first came in, I was really short of breath, maybe the ventilation hadn't been opened and the air freshener hadn't been sprayed.
