Sumbawa Grand Hotel

The security staff were the people I felt safest and happiest around. The receptionist women did try to help, though the male receptionists didn’t even greet guests. WiFi was good in the lobby and pool area, but foreigners apparently can’t get WiFi elsewhere. If you need breakfast for an early checkout, I wouldn’t waste time carrying that simple meal along.

The noise made it impossible to sleep or rest. Every room, including mine, faces a nightclub where loud music goes on day and night. My room was in terrible shape and the air conditioning didn’t work. They said I could move only by paying extra, claiming there were no other rooms. Other rooms suddenly appeared after I insisted and said I’d complain through Booking. The manager showed no understanding and kept asking for more money to switch. Easily the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, a complete disaster. I absolutely don’t recommend it.

The breakfast was a real highlight, with tasty local and Western options and a good spread. We had a VVIP room that was spacious and clean, and the AC worked excellently. The location is hard to beat, near local restaurants and the airport, and the complimentary airport shuttle was a nice surprise. A great choice if you’re staying in Sumbawa.

I didn’t stay because they don’t sell alcohol. I stayed at the hotel right across the road instead, and had a good time there.
