De Puri Boutique Hotel

I chose the cheapest room because it was near the train station for a late arrival and early start, and the photos and reviews looked good. When I arrived, the staff seemed surprised I was there. One of the guys left with a room spray and towel, and the room was ready 10 minutes later. The floor was still wet, with hair all over it. It smelled mouldy mixed with room spray, and the bedsheets and pillow had wet stains and felt damp. Maybe the superior rooms are better, but every room should meet a baseline standard. I left and found another place nearby.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, and the place is easy to reach, near gubeng station. The room is very standard for a 2 star hotel. It's a good fit if you just need to sleep or are on a business trip, but for a staycation you might want another hotel. Since our trip was on a budget, this was the best option for us.

There's no window on the first floor, so the room felt humid, and the bathroom is too small. The room itself is spacious enough, and the AC was pretty cold even though it looked old. My main problem was having no mobile signal the whole time, so I had to rely on the hotel wifi. At least there's a cold water dispenser, and parking feels safe with a security guy there 24/7. Chance of coming back: 60%

The room was quiet and comfortable for the price, with enough room to move around the bed. The AC and TV both worked fine, and everything was clean. We did have several power outages, and there was some mold on the bathroom curtains. Nothing too severe, but it wasn't the best place to stay in Surabaya.
