My wife picked this because it was cheap, but I wouldn't recommend it if comfort matters. For 200,000 IDR, this is what we got: There was no TV, and although we arrived two hours early and were shown a room, at check-in we were told to bring our things to a different one. The bathroom was dirty, and when we got back after wandering around Surabaya, the dirty sheets were still on the mattress along with towels left by the previous guests. We weren't given towels or even soap. The main light switch was short-circuited and the lights kept flickering, so we used the bathroom light instead. There's only one power outlet, so bring a cable. In the middle of the night the room lost power because the token ran out.

We left less than 10 minutes after going in and canceled. The room smelled so bad it clung to the walls, and I nearly threw up on the way out. The place was dirty, with faded paint, and didn't live up to the OYO name. We'd booked two rooms but asked for a refund on just one. The service felt very unprofessional, more like an ordinary boarding house. Sorry.
After a full four hours of exams, I just wanted to get to bed. I'd paid in full and checked in that night, but when my friend and I arrived at 9 PM, they told us there were no rooms left. We had to find somewhere else, and the place was down an alley. The phone number didn't connect us directly to the OYO owner, it seemed to go through an intermediary. If the rooms were full, they could have let us know earlier, especially since it was late and we were two girls. While we sat briefly to order an online taxi and search for another hotel, the employee or owner seemed to rush us out, saying, “Lock the gate immediately, it's late.” We understand it was late, but couldn't they show a little empathy? It was a really unpleasant experience.
The bathroom was the one letdown: it was a bit dirty and the water smelled. The rest was good, with friendly staff, spacious clean rooms, soft beds, a good TV, cold air conditioning, and plenty of parking. The price is reasonable, and I'd recommend it for somewhere in the 100,000 IDR range.
There's a lot to improve here, from the room to the service. You have to ask for basics like soap, shampoo, a comb, and snacks. Maybe because it's called ECO Sharia, it leaves you wondering and asking questions. The place feels shabby, like a non-executive boarding house. The rooms are dull and uncomfortable, and the toilets are dirty. There's just one outlet, mounted very high with no table nearby, so charging a phone with a regular short cable takes some creativity. Even at the promotional price of Rp. 77,000, one stay was enough for me. The place and service felt unprofessional. Without improvements to the facilities and service, I wouldn't stay again.
