Buda and his wife keep the garden and porch in good shape, and Buda added an outdoor shower and racks for surfboards. He knows surfing well, works as a surf guide and board shaper, and was happy to share tips for improving. I spent a month at Buda’s guest house, and it was better than I expected. It’s modest but comfortable, with a desk, a well-stocked kitchen, and an outdoor table where I could have breakfast looking over the rice fields. The bathroom is basic, though it was fine for me. It’s quiet and near the beach, about five minutes by scooter. There isn’t a pool, but with the ocean so close I didn’t miss one. Local cafés and surf breaks such as Yeh Gangga and Pigstone are also within reach.
