Hotel Pasola

I had a bad stay here. The place was in very poor condition, smelled of smoke throughout, and the electricity fuses blew. The AC didn’t work and the showers leaked. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I had a pleasant stay and no major complaints. The staff were great at helping me find a motorbike through a local rental company, and they gave me advice on buses and chartered cars for my onward trip. The hotel is about a five-minute walk from the airport. Breakfast comes with coffee or tea, but the food is just jam, with peanut butter or chocolate spread only if you’re lucky. In my experience they set it out around 7:30-8, so don’t count on it for an early start.

It’s handy for the airport, just a five-minute walk, but I wouldn’t stay longer than one night. It reminded me of a shabby motel 8 in the US. The photos don’t match what’s there, and everything feels dated. As soon as we walked in, there was a damp, musty smell. Breakfast is toast and coffee.

This might work for one night because it’s three minutes from the airport, but that’s about the only plus. The garden had become a dump, the AC remote had a dead battery, and there was a little gecko in the attic, which was the least of my worries. No one could speak even basic English. Wifi was a mess: three networks, only one connected to the internet, and it was painfully slow and clunky. Telkomsel also has a data dead spot here, so it’s a bad choice for remote work. Maybe the kids at reception were using all the bandwidth doomscrolling 😂. Even one night felt like plenty.
