Anema Wellness Villa & Spa Gili Lombok

The staff were polite and clearly trying their best, but that couldn't make up for the condition of the property. I booked mainly for the location, then checked out after one night of a planned three-night stay. I also wouldn't trust the dive centre given the resort's general standards and maintenance. The website photos were very outdated. The old buildings looked poorly maintained, as if they hadn't been painted or cared for in years, and the rooms didn't match what was advertised. The electricity only worked with the room key inserted, so power cut off whenever we left, including to the fridge and air conditioning. With Lombok reaching temperatures close to 38°C daily, that made things very uncomfortable. The air conditioning wasn't working properly anyway. Cleanliness was unacceptable. I found previous guests' flip-flops under my bed, and the towels in my family's room had hair on them and clearly hadn't been properly replaced or cleaned. The resort manager, AJI, contacted me and promised to arrange a refund, but nothing happened. He also didn't try to meet us personally at checkout. As a hotel General Manager myself, and someone who has visited Indonesia multiple times, I can honestly say this was the worst hotel experience I've had. In my opinion, it doesn't deserve even one star.

We stayed at the Anema Hotel for three nights and left with very negative memories. The staff were helpful and attentive, but we won't return. There was a burglary in our room. We had evidence pointing to a particular person working with the hotel, but the security camera footage somehow disappeared without explanation. After we complained, the hotel refunded us and offered an excursion and a meal. If you stay at Anema, I advise you not to leave anything in the room, even in the safe, and not to show your belongings to staff. Other guests' reviews also describe burglaries. Be especially careful with the captain of the boat to the Gili Islands. Ask for the inside door keys, which we had to request after the burglary. The garden wall isn't high enough to stop anyone entering your villa. This didn't feel worthy of a 5-star hotel. Even with our upgrade, the hotel seemed outdated and didn't deserve its 5 stars. The bathtub was clogged, and we didn't enjoy the complimentary 15-minute massage.

The staff were quick to respond and very attentive, and the massage therapists were excellent. The hotel grounds are beautiful, with a great main pool and private pool. We had a really pleasant stay and highly recommend the place. Thank you! 🙏🏼

The staff were friendly and attentive, but that wasn't enough to make up for the poor condition of the facilities. This absolutely isn't a 5-star resort. Maybe it was when it was renovated years ago, but now the rooms, gardens, gym, spa, and pool aren't even close to a 4-star standard. The gardens looked especially neglected. Several gym machines were out of order, and the pool table had just one damaged cue and several damaged balls. The spa needs serious renovation, and the main pool didn't look like it had been cleaned properly in a while. The rooms were very basic, with an ineffective projector screen. The shower drain overflowed the first time we used it. The private plunge pool isn't really private because it shares water with the next room. The resort is extremely disappointing and run down.
