Breakfast was decent, with drinks including coffee, juice, hot chocolate, milk, cappuccino, and hot water. There’s a choice of indoor seating or tables beside the pool, set far enough away that someone diving in shouldn’t splash your meal. The hotel has a bathtub and shower with hot water, and it was easy to find a comfortable temperature. They only put out two towels, but replacements were available whenever we asked. This was my third visit to Karlita Hotel, which I keep booking when I come to Tegal with my family. I stayed with my wife and nine-year-old daughter in a room with one bed. It was clean and big enough for the three of us, with three pillows. The AC worked well, and the room temperature suited us. Some wallpaper was worn, but it wasn't a serious or bothersome issue. The room also had the usual supplies: teabags, coffee, cups, sugar, and spoons. The TV offered local and cable channels, though the signal was poor. The shows were still watchable. I recommend it for a quiet stay or a stopover in Tegal. The facilities and comfort are decent for a very affordable rate.

We needed a night’s stop on the way to Solo, and the hotel was easy to find. The room was clean and comfortable. We just couldn’t get a non-smoking room.

The bathtub was the one good thing. The room itself was a mess: stained mattress and pillows, dirty walls, a balcony that wouldn’t lock, and a key that had to be replaced because it didn’t work. I usually stay here, so I’m wondering whether I got a bad room because I hadn’t paid for breakfast. Check-in is normally at 1 PM, but yesterday I wasn’t allowed in until I paid an extra 50,000. Seriously? The quality should be getting better, not worse.

We were there during the holiday season, and a wedding party made things very crowded. The old building has large rooms, and the food was decent, though breakfast was quite chaotic. There’s a nightclub too, but I didn’t go in. They had no trolley for room service, so luckily we had our son’s stroller.
