Bali Jungle Resort

There’s so much to explore around the grounds. I found hidden seating spots everywhere, plus a waterfall and stream, and the soundscape was wonderful. The jungle setting is stunning and peaceful. Staff were incredibly sweet and friendly, the pool was clean, and the beds were comfortable. Food at the restaurant was basic but tasty. There were lots of bugs, but that’s expected here and was part of the fun. We might have liked a scooter for getting around the area. The cozy jungle huts are cute, but not very large, so they’re perfect for solo travellers. Bigger rooms are available for more money. The steps up to the smaller huts are very steep and narrow, and since the bathroom is underneath, you have to use those steps often. Older guests or anyone with mobility needs should choose one of the larger rooms where the bathroom connects to the bedroom.

The jungle location is naturally beautiful, but this was by far the worst of the several places we stayed in Ubud, even though it was cheap. Our hut was tiny, barely had room to move, and was very dirty, with dust, stained sheets and shower towels, and lots of bathroom mold. It was also full of insects, including ants and scorpions. Nobody came to clean during our four nights. The restaurant was closed most of the time. When open, it would have been useful to have affordable food since the hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the main road, but prices were very high, up to twice as much as other places, and the food quality was worse. Breakfast was the one good meal, with a choice of eggs or pancakes. Staff spoke very little English, which is unusual in Bali, and it made it very difficult to communicate.

The main pool has a lovely view, and you can hear the river all around this spot in the jungle. The staff were friendly and helpful. Getting down the road to the hotel felt a bit sketchy, so a pickup and drop-off point at the top might help. The menu is very small, and it would be great if everything listed were actually available. Still, I recommend it.

It’s genuinely quiet here, with birds, monkeys, wind and water all around. The trees keep the air cool, which was such a relief from Bali’s usual heat. In the morning, I liked taking the path down to the nearby river and its little waterfall. It feels tucked away in the jungle and lives up to its name. The team seemed a little short-staffed for such a large resort, but everyone tried hard to make the stay pleasant. Service was nice, communication over WhatsApp was easy, and the food was decent despite the limited choice. Getting in is challenging, so make sure your driver is skilled.
