Uma Sebatu Villas Ubud

Breakfast was good, and we enjoyed the food. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but at night the hot water stopped coming. We called reception many times and got no answer, so we had to shower in freezing cold water in the cold weather.

The attentive staff and the infinity pool views made the stay memorable. Set among rice fields and lush jungle, Uma Sebatu Hotel feels like a peaceful escape from Ubud. The villas have traditional charm along with modern comforts, and there’s plenty of privacy for relaxing.

Nights at Uma Sebatu villa were so quiet that I could properly unwind from the usual daily noise. The setting among paddy fields adds to the calm, though you should be ready for insects in a nature-surrounded spot. I stayed in the family room, which was even better than I expected, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and quick to help. The room was clean and well maintained. I especially liked the bathtub and roomy shower, and the clean private pool was a lovely place to relax. The facilities and surroundings made this feel like a good value for the money. I’d definitely return, and recommend it to anyone looking for a restorative break from the hustle and bustle.

We arrived around 5pm for one night before a sunrise jeep tour in Kintamani. The deluxe villa looked out over a beautiful spread of paddy fields, and its wooden design gave it a traditional Indonesian rural feel while still having air conditioning, a TV, and a bathtub. The stay was uncomfortable in a few ways. Hygiene could be better: my wife and I kept scratching while sitting or resting on the bed and chairs. Large ants were everywhere and could sting, and the mosquitoes were intense. The wooden structure seemed to let them into the room, so we spent the night under the mosquito net to avoid being eaten alive. Around midnight we heard obvious sounds of movement, footsteps, doors and windows opening. Since the deluxe villas are separate from each other, it felt strange and scary, and I still don’t know whether it was other guests coming or going or something supernatural. For Muslims, halal food nearby is very limited. We had to order through Grab, which was challenging because the villa is far from the city centre where the halal restaurants are.
