Les Rizieres Lombok

The food was a real highlight. The Indonesian dishes had a little French influence and all the right flavors. We mostly ate vegetarian and loved it, and the chicken dishes we tried were great too. My second favorite breakfast was the omelette, but the banana crepes won. We're already missing the food! We stayed six nights in the room above the rice terraces, by the upper tobacco oven. It was one of five rooms with an ensuite, and we woke to views of Mount Rinjani. From our room and the well-placed shared lounge, we could watch people tending the fields and harvesting coconuts. The accommodation was private, quiet, spotless, and had 10/10 service. The owners were lovely and helpful but left us to ourselves unless we asked for advice, which is exactly how we like it. There was plenty of time to unwind. We took a guided walk through the rice paddies, did the waterfall tour one morning, and visited local handicrafts. Go early for the waterfalls, around 8am, and you may be the only ones there. On other days we wandered, rode bikes or e-bikes, and read in the common area. I got through three books, I was so relaxed. A week here would be easy, and you can even get a massage. Whenever we went out, the experience felt authentic. We hardly saw other tourists, mostly local Indonesian people going about daily life, threshing rice, harvesting coconuts, and taking kids to or from school. They were always polite and returned our greetings and smiles. It was such a special place in a quiet part of Lombok. What a lovely stay and region, thank you.

The upstairs room overlooking the rice fields is gorgeous, and every detail has been thought through. The whole place is incredibly clean, and the breakfasts, lunches, and dinners were all delicious. The owners and team were friendly and professional, and gave us lots of information about the area and things to do. We had a wonderful stay at les rizières and would absolutely return. The staff made our stay: Nuri, Chef, the kitchen crew, reception, and the drivers were all kind, helpful, and wonderful. When our driver Donny dropped us at the port, he even stayed a little and helped us avoid a boat scam. Our hosts suggested a local tour, and Denny took us around to see local crafts and artisans. We also got to share a meal with local people, one of the highlights of our trip. And the property has the sweetest dogs, Lulu & Mini. The restaurant was excellent and affordable, with a menu built around what's available locally. We tried crepes, homemade bread, chippies, lumpia, swordfish steaks with purple mashed potato, and chicken and veggie satay with rice and spicy Lombok chillies. The upstairs dining area looks out over a beautiful rice paddy. Katie & Thomas have clearly put care into the details at Les Rizieres. The property is beautiful, and our room was spacious, airy, and peaceful, with big windows for sunlight and breezes, plus a good fan. The decor was lovely, and the soft bedding, pillows, and linens felt like home. We only stayed two nights and wish we'd had longer to relax, eat more, and explore more of the area. Until next time. The team and hosts made our visit to Les Rizières in Tetebatu feel special. They were warm and welcoming, and went out of their way to help before we arrived, while we were there, and after we left. You can tell they care about giving guests a good experience. The rice field tour was a highlight, peaceful and full of insight into local life, and the food was really tasty too. The property sits by the rice fields with a stunning view of Mount Rinjani. We left with lovely memories and highly recommend it.
