The bathroom was the worst part for me: there was no proper flush, just a bucket, and that wasn't mentioned in the Agoda listing. Inside the room the WiFi barely connected for a minute, so online work was out of the question. There was no hot water, no fan in the heat, and mosquitoes everywhere. One switch controlled everything, and the walls were thin wooden boards, so every sound from neighboring rooms came through and I couldn't sleep. Getting help was frustrating too. The host could take a day or more to reply, if he replied at all, and often just left messages seen. I had to keep chasing even small things, and he seemed not to care about guests. The room didn't match the description. This was the worst stay I've had, and I'd avoid it.

The food was enjoyable, and the hospitality was fantastic. For a budget place, the room was fine. It's a basic spot to relax and forget about work, traffic, or five-star rooms and bathrooms. Just be prepared for cold water at night, with no heater, so I had to bathe before the temperature dropped. 😅

The balcony was a nice extra, and you can smoke there if you want. The bedroom and bathroom were a good size, and the bed was comfortable. I booked the most economical room and got what I expected, plus an amazing view. The location is good, and there's an amazing restaurant attached, run by the same kind and comfortable owners. I'd recommend staying here in Tuk Tuk.

For the price, the rooms are great and the owners are kind. A real gem on Samosir.
