Tabo Cottages

We had a toddler with us at Tabo Cottages, and it was super comfortable. The grounds were well kept, with lots of flowers, and our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast had plenty of variety, the pool was clean, and the staff were very helpful. We ate at the restaurant almost every day because the food was great, and the coffee was amazing too. The massages were relaxing and professional, and the prices were reasonable.

I spent three days here during my tour. The place is beautifully set above the lake, and the rooms are clean and looked after. The staff were friendly and spoke good English. The menu had a nice mix of Indonesian and European dishes. This was the only place in Sumatra where I saw schnitzel on the menu.

A great stay for the money, with roomy accommodation and a nice breakfast. One small issue was the window coverings: the curtains didn't reach high enough, so the room stayed a bit bright. There was also a kitchen-side window with no curtain, directly opposite a light.

I liked the quiet setting and the view over Lake Toba, and the clean room had a jungle shower that I especially enjoyed. The pool was a nice bonus and a good place to unwind. I had a great stay at Tabo Cottages and would recommend it to anyone looking to relax. The restaurant is where there's room to improve. The food wasn't bad, just a bit bland and slightly expensive for what you got, so I took off one star.
