The next morning I got a complimentary breakfast and was moved to a much better room, where I could enjoy the rest of my stay more comfortably. That helped, because my first night was awful. I arrived after 10 PM, finished some work, then discovered heavy mold and humidity in the first room. I couldn’t stay inside for even an hour, let alone sleep. I contacted the staff, but got no reply at that late hour. The smell was intense, and I spent the whole night on the balcony after having an allergic reaction, with coughing, shortness of breath and other symptoms. I think that room needs a full renovation before it’s offered to guests again. The accommodation wasn’t especially expensive, but it wasn’t the cheapest around either. Humidity and mold can be an issue in Bali and Ubud, but what I experienced here was particularly extreme and unmanageable. There were good parts too. The staff were incredibly kind, friendly and always smiling. The path to the property was beautiful, surrounded by greenery and rice fields, and the area was peaceful for walks. Ubud can be busy and noisy, so the quiet here felt like a real gem. I liked the two pools and being able to order breakfast to the room for a chosen time. My second room, the building and the surroundings were all pleasant. There’s a lot of potential here, but room upkeep and quality checks need serious attention. Rooms are cleaned every day. If you get a good one, you might have a wonderful stay, but a poorly maintained room could really affect your experience.
