Alila Ubud. Bali

The infinity pool is breathtaking, with beautiful views down the valley over the jungle canopy. We loved the setting, and the food was delicious. Both restaurants above the pool had good menus, so we could pick where to eat based on what we fancied. Plantation had a wonderful jungle view, while Cabana lounge looked out over the infinity pool. Trailfinders chose Alila for us so we could see northern Bali’s cultural icons without making the longer trips from Seminyak. The welcome was so warm, and watching staff shoo away local macaques made it clear this was a real jungle stay. From our first-floor King room balcony, we had amazing views across the valley. The room was reasonably spacious, the bed was comfortable, and it had all the expected facilities. The indoor-outdoor shower was unusual, fully glazed to keep monkeys out, and always had plenty of very hot water. Every staff member was friendly, introduced themselves, and made an effort to remember our names for daily greetings. We had a wonderful stay with no negatives at all, and are grateful for their hospitality.

What made it special was the caring staff, who did their best to help with anything I needed and treated me with so much kindness. My room looked out toward a gorgeous cliff full of jungle life. Monkeys would try to sneak in for fruit if I left the patio door open. The setting went beyond what I expected, making this a once-in-a-lifetime experience for me. The hospitality was impeccable.

The staff were amazing, always attentive and happy to help with anything. It was such a beautiful stay in this lovely part of Ubud, peaceful and surrounded by nature. I’d highly recommend it for a restful holiday and would definitely visit again. Thank you!

We appreciated how the team handled a problem with our first room. There was a water issue, and after it was fixed for about 30 minutes, they moved us next door. At breakfast they apologized for the previous night, even though we hadn’t brought it up. An hour later, they offered to show us a villa for our final night. We took it and had no regrets. Yuni, the F&B Manager, the whole F&B team, and Agung, the Guest Relations Manager, deserve special thanks for working behind the scenes to make things right. The basic rooms are quite small, show some signs of age, and the bathroom setup may put some people off. You’d have to be really close with your partner or travel companion for it not to bother you. I’d suggest splurging on the larger villa for a trip to remember. The property is out of the way for most people visiting Bali, but the jungle resort setting makes it worth the trip. We could see monkeys on many of our walks around the grounds. The team and location are what make this place worth visiting, and we’d give it another chance if we’re back in the area.
