Aroem Villa Ubud

We spent five days at Aroem Villa, my boyfriend, our small child and me, and found it peaceful, comfortable luxury for a reasonable price. It’s about 10 min by bike from Ubud, tucked behind other villas and resorts. Getting in along the jungle-like path feels a little adventurous. The room was roomy and tastefully furnished, with modern basics including AC, a ceiling fan, TV with HBO, FOX and FOX Sports, a microwave and a refrigerator. Our private terrace looked out over rice fields and palm trees, and the clean pool was lovely. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice and delivered to the room. The villa was brand new when we visited, and the owners’ choices of materials, furniture and fabrics showed great taste. Most of all, the staff were kind and quick to help. They arranged trips to sights in and around Ubud and helped us find diapers and other supplies since there’s no market nearby. We’d happily recommend Aroem Villa.

The rooms feel spacious and classy, and the rice field view is beautiful and natural. I loved staying here. It’s set back from the street noise, so the place feels like a quiet little escape, and the staff are very helpful. I recommended it to a friend, and she also found the peaceful retreat she wanted.

I’ve ended up treating Aroem Villa like a home during my artist residencies in Ubud over nearly the past three years. I usually stay at least two weeks, once or twice a year. It’s a good fit when I need a clean, quiet place to rest after work and focus on my projects. Cantika Zest, one of the best massage places in the area, is within walking distance. The rates are reasonable, the basics are covered, and the setting is serene, so it works well for a longer stay. I’d suggest renting a scooter from the front desk to get around. The staff have always been attentive and caring, especially Ibu Ayu and Pak Manik, who looked after us so well. Once, my bike broke down away from the villa and I called Ibu Ayu. She came to help and saved the day. Pak Manik works nights, and always made sure I felt safe, had dinner, and had fuel in my bike. I have a lot of memories and stories tied to this place. I hope the Aroem family can keep the cleanliness, service and quality going, and that they’re doing well so they can keep sharing their good intentions with kindred spirits.

We had paid ahead for this hotel in Ukraine and arrived with a prepaid voucher, but they wouldn’t let us check in. They said there was a price mistake in their system and wanted us to pay extra. Sorting it out with the travel agency, the hotel owner and the administrator took almost four hours, and we were left exhausted. The area looked nice, though the hotel has only 5 rooms. The service and willingness to help guests were awful. I wouldn’t recommend it to travelers.
