Awatara Boutique Resort Ubud

The food was the main drawback for us. Breakfast was okay, though nothing special. I had the BBQ chicken for dinner once, and my stomach was upset straight away, even though it wasn’t spicy. Someone else in my group got sick too, and another person who ate the chicken had a similar reaction, so I’d be cautious about having dinner there. The resort is small and quiet, but getting to central Ubud by taxi is easy, and there are several grocery stores nearby. The rooms are spacious, with a TV, air conditioning that worked well, basic toiletries, a bathtub, and both indoor and outdoor showers. My room’s bathroom had large windows that couldn’t be closed, looking onto a small garden-like area with an outdoor shower. The walls meant nobody could technically see into the bathroom, but it still felt a little exposed when showering or using the toilet. Service was a real bright spot. The people at reception and the servers tried hard to make our stay a good one. When my mother wanted a fresh coconut, which wasn’t on the menu, one of the servers asked a friend to find one for her. I’d recommend this as a quiet place to stay near Ubud’s centre, but I wouldn’t have dinner here.

The location wasn’t ideal for getting around on foot, with not much nearby within walking distance. Still, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the large bed was comfortable. I stayed four nights in a beautiful, spacious room with a big bathroom and a wonderful outdoor shower.

A small, quiet place, maybe around 20 rooms, and I had a fantastic three-night stay. The pool was just the right temperature, the rooms were clean, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food was delicious too. I’d definitely come back.

The reception desk was often empty, so I had to go looking for someone when I needed help. Breakfast choices were very limited, and when I asked about coffee creamer, staff just said they had none and didn’t seem keen to help. My room was spacious, but there was no bath mat, so shower water spread into the room every time I stepped out. The WiFi was down from check-in and was still out the next day. That was really frustrating because I couldn’t contact my family back home. As someone who travels often, I honestly can’t believe I stayed at a four-star resort.
