Alit and her family really went out of their way to make me comfortable and help me sort things out locally. I spent nearly a week in one of the bungalows, which was comfortable and well equipped, with a wardrobe, desk, spacious bathroom and basic kitchen. They sit in a calm, lovely garden outside Ubud. Shops and restaurants are about a 10-minute scooter ride away.
The bed was comfortable, the room was fairly clean, and there’s a small kitchen with very basic utensils. But we wanted peace and quiet, and this wasn’t the place for that. People nearby burned rubbish, including plastic, several times every day. Roosters, dogs and street noise were loud, and the walls were so thin we could hear every word from next door. For this price, I expected refillable drinking water, especially with all the plastic waste in Bali. There was also construction at the property that we hadn’t been told about. On two days in a row, work was done in our room without warning. They added a bathroom mirror, left all the dust behind, and covered our toothbrushes in dirt because we didn’t know to put them away. Communication was a problem too. On arrival, we waited over 30 minutes past our stated arrival time for someone to unlock the gate because the person we’d been messaging hadn’t told his daughter. Privacy was poor as well. One morning I came out of the shower wearing only a towel, and the owner insisted on talking to me and came onto the terrace. I had to hurry back inside to get away from an uncomfortable situation. We stayed for the two weeks we’d booked only because I was very sick and couldn’t move, and Booking.com customer service was terrible. I wouldn’t recommend it.
Getting to UBUD by scooter was easy, and the guesthouse is close by. It’s surrounded by greenery and incredibly quiet, like a little corner of paradise. Alit welcomed us with a smile and was always around when we needed her. She made us feel like family, which was a real joy.
Alit was what we appreciated most. She was kind and always happy to help or suggest things to see nearby. We felt completely at ease, and everything was spotless and matched the Booking.com listing. The room was clean, bright and comfortable. If you're renting scooters to explore the area, it’s an ideal spot.
The garden is lovely, and the whole place feels peaceful, a good escape from busy, noisy Ubud. Alit is a wonderful host who takes time to talk and share local culture. I’d highly recommend staying here.
