Sari Bamboo Bungalows

I've had several rashes and allergies after my stay at Sari Bamboo Bungalows, from what I believe were multiple bedbugs. At 3am I used my torch and saw heaps of them scattered under and on top of the sheets and pillows. Reception was closed, so I slept outside. They got into my clothes and luggage, and my head has been itching too. Two weeks later, I'm still waking in the night itchy and sore. I reported it straight away, but it wasn't resolved satisfactorily. I rang the hotel and left my details because the manager wasn't there, but nobody called me back. I'm taking it up with Agoda, where I booked. I'm not usually one to complain, but this was by far my worst stay and the customer service was appalling.

The small pool only had two sunbeds, but the room was nice and came with a private mini kitchen, and breakfast was good. I also liked the book exchange library, which had lots of books in English and other languages. The front desk team can arrange activities and tours, though their prices seemed high compared with travel agencies, so we didn't book through them.

I only came for lunch at the Warung, not to stay at the hotel, and was pleasantly surprised by the food. I had the chicken satay, which was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. My friend got the vegetable soup and spring roll and wanted to return to try more. It's a little tucked away and hard to spot, but inside it's a beautiful, lush space with lovely decor, plants, and a very calming feel. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

The service was kind and polite, but the rest of the experience felt off. At the dining area it came across more like the host's personal home than a hotel, and it didn't feel welcoming or refreshing. There were no customers in the cafe and restaurant, and the whole place felt dead, as if things weren't circulating well. The bathroom and pool were dirty, and the bed's mosquito net was broken and had black marks. I felt itchy all night in bed. Maybe insects inside the mattress need chemical treatment, since it seemed like the problem was within the bed rather than the cover. The paintings looked ugly and kitschy, and didn't suit the wooden buildings. The grounds need attention too, with trash hidden between the buildings that should be cleared away.
