Gana Restaurant and Villa

The staff were super friendly and accommodating when I asked to borrow things like plates. Really great service, and I'll definitely stay again. Hotel Gana is centrally located, close to cafes, shops, and the transport hub, with plenty of parking if you bring your own vehicle. My room was clean, comfortable, and quite spacious, especially the bathroom. There was also a balcony with enough space to hang out or relax. Everything in the room worked perfectly.

This is a good choice for budget travelers who want clean, spacious rooms and quality. The location is excellent, with good restaurants and cafés nearby and the primary museum only steps away. The grounds have pools, koi, fish, and other outdoor areas to explore. The rooms are basic, no-frills, but for the price the cleanliness and standard are very good. The staff are helpful, though you shouldn't expect four-star treatment. Breakfast was a major letdown, as other reviews mention, but there are plenty of delicious options just a few steps away at nearby restaurants. That shouldn't put you off if you're looking for simple, clean rooms in this area.

We cut our reservation short and went to another hotel after an attendant unlocked our room and tried to enter at 11pm without knocking. He was apparently dropping off our laundry, which we'd asked them to bring to our room when it was ready. Still, coming in without knocking so late showed poor judgment and left us uneasy. The room itself was okay, though there were small issues like broken trim and stained cupboards. The stone bathroom, with the toilet and shower combined, was more annoying than we expected. Ubud is well placed for walking to lots of good places, including the Monkey Park, about 15 minutes away. The pool was okay, but the area around it felt dated and uninviting.

The garden and hotel were calm and pretty, with friendly, helpful staff. We stayed four days while traveling through Bali in 2019. Our rooms were spacious and felt safe. The breakfast platter was generous, and we tried the dinner menu too, which was all exquisite.
