Bali Dream Resort Ubud

This was a horrible stay, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. There were bats, frogs and a jungle-like feel around the pool, so going outside the room in the evening didn't feel possible. In the early morning, bats flew right by the door and we couldn't get out. There's no road access for cabs, and they said there was a buggy, but there was nobody available to use it. Service was absent. WhatsApp calls went unanswered, reception only opened at 7 am, and there was no one to contact after 10 pm or before 7 am. The area also gave me a negative vibe.

I'm not especially demanding, but I do have standards, and this place was a disaster. It's listed as a three-star hotel, though to me it deserves one. The photos felt misleading: room 208 looked completely different from them. Ants and termites were all over the room, and gaps around the windows let insects and lizards in. Breakfast had very little variety and was poor. At the restaurant, they gave me an ashtray with the same cigarette butt I'd smoked two days earlier. A big no for this accommodation.

Staff were humble and helpful, but my stay at Bali Dream Ubud was still deeply disappointing. The room was dim, the AC barely worked, and the location was only average, with a narrow lane to walk down to reach the resort. The dirty room had unclean sheets and bed curtains, plus mosquitoes, cockroaches, lizards and other pests. It was the worst and scariest experience I've had. When I asked for a water bottle on checkout day, they said it would cost extra. With hygiene and basic amenities like that, I can't recommend this place, especially to couples or people visiting Ubud for the first time. There are better options around.

A quiet little spot in the greenery, with Ubud's main city not too far away. Cars can't get all the way to the entrance, so keep that in mind, though there's a buggy service. Breakfast was good.
