The place was extremely unhygienic. There were spider webs in the toilet, under the table, and beneath the bed, and fungus on the bathroom walls and floors throughout the hotel. Lizards were all over the room, some as long as half an adult arm, which was frightening. The toilet also had ants and cockroaches. My daughter slept on the bed and had a severe allergic reaction. Her face and body swelled, and we rushed her to the emergency hospital. Afterward, we had to disinfect everything ourselves before sleeping. They gave us a floor mattress for her and charged an extra 50,000 IDR, which felt greedy and unreasonable. The staff acted like owners. When we asked for breakfast, which was two slices of bread per person, they argued and insisted on just one slice each. Roosters crowed all day and night, making it impossible to sleep for even a minute. The noise was unbearable, and the earplugs they provided were useless. There wasn't a proper hot water system. We had to keep begging them to turn it on. They used small cylinders and were careless about refilling them. I had freezing cold showers on several nights. When I asked for hot water for my daughter, the staff rudely asked if I'd used hot water to wash clothes, which I hadn't. There wasn't hot water in the sink anyway. I ended up taking cold showers every night, and our stay was absolutely miserable. I wish there were a zero-star option. This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had, and I don't think it deserves even one star. Please read carefully and think three times before booking. If hygiene, hot water, peace, safety, or sleep matter to you, do not stay here.

The owner was very nice and responsive both before booking and during my stay. It's on a quiet street, though only a couple of minutes' walk from the busy parts of the city. The room is in a traditional Balinese house with all the traditional elements, and the balcony looks out at beautiful trees. A rooster next door was loud, but that's part of Ubud and rural areas. I'm an early riser, so it didn't bother me. I booked three nights but checked out after the first. The room was adequate, though it could have been cleaner. The white mosquito net looked grey with dust, there were eggshells from a previous guest's breakfast on the side table, and the tablecloth had tea or coffee stains. The shower's hot water wasn't working. The yard had a lot of things in it and didn't look tidy or organized. With all that, I didn't feel comfortable staying more than one night.

The host was very kind and could help with things like renting a motorbike. It's a basic homestay in central Ubud, on one of the few streets without constant traffic, and the location is great. Every room has a very nice balcony. The rooms could be cleaner and better maintained, though, with bathroom leaks and hot water sometimes missing. Expect roosters crowing day and night, as they do everywhere in Ubud.

For the price, it's hard to beat. Right in the centre of Ubud, and it's a family place. I stayed ten days after already spending two months in Bali. Such a great spot 🙏 I'll come back for a longer stay.

I had most of my meals with the family and paid my fair share. Breakfast is included in the room rate, and they'll arrange transport if you need it. They can also arrange a visit to the Monkey Forrest or one of the Balinese cultural dances. It's an inexpensive room in Ubud, and this homestay guesthouse gives you lots of interaction with the family. A fantastic experience. I'll stay longer next time I go to Ubud.
