Byasa Ubud

The room was huge and comfortable, with a great shower, and we really liked the pool. Breakfast was good too. The hotel is close to the city centre, yet our views of rice fields and nature made it feel quiet and removed from busy streets. From check-in to checkout, every staff member was kind and helpful and made us feel welcome. I had an amazing three-night stay at Byasa Ubud Hotel and would return to Ubud.

Rain kept us at the hotel quite a bit during our wonderful three days, but we were comfortable there. The simple rooms were spacious and quiet. Our connecting rooms on the second floor had a balcony with an amazing view of the rice fields, and we enjoyed afternoon tea out there. The food was delicious, and we could have dinner at the hotel. The staff were friendly.

The staff were amazing, and this review isn’t about them. The rooms were clean and spacious, but sparse, basic, and showing wear. They also pointed out a policy about stained linens, which felt pretty off putting. I’d read that the towels could be musty, and they were, so I was glad I brought my own. There’s no staff or security after 11 pm, which made me uneasy as a solo female traveler. The area feels more local and less polished than the town center. Walking is difficult, with hardly any sidewalk, and loose tiles where there is one. I fell badly on a loose tile on arrival and sprained my elbow, so I couldn’t do the yoga I’d chosen this area for. I usually stay closer to the center and had hoped to be near the yoga barn, but that became a moot point. If you want a clean, basic place in Ubud, this may fit. I felt misled by all the five star reviews. You get what you pay for, it’s budget accommodation that gets the job done, not the hidden gem the price and reviews might suggest.

The road outside is busy, but I barely noticed any noise. Rooms are basic in style, yet spacious and very clean, and breakfast had lots of good choices. Staff were lovely and attentive, happy to help with anything from trip bookings to carrying luggage. Dinner was delicious too. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
