Firefly Eco Lodge

Being so close to nature while still feeling comfortable made our stay in the Nest really special. The lobby and gardens were beautiful, and this quiet, secluded eco resort near central Ubud was a highlight of our trip. It’s best for people who enjoy the outdoors and don’t mind bugs, but we loved the experience.

Coming back to Firefly Eco Lodge after two years felt easy, I’d missed the mix of laid-back calm and fun here. The birds nest is a must-do, and waking up to the rice fields from the level 3 or level 4 nests is gorgeous. Bring mosquito spray too, even though the beds have nets. The staff know Bali well and are quick to help. There’s a good menu with breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including options for vegetarians and meat lovers. We also enjoyed facials at the spa. The restaurant and pool resort next door add more to do, while Ubud’s centre is still nearby, about a 7-minute Grab ride to the strip. I’d say this place suits a relaxing stay. If you meet Nama at reception, she’s lovely and gave us 10/10 service.

I stayed for about two weeks and kept extending because leaving felt so hard. The place has a great decorated, hippie-luxury feel, and the staff create a lovely communal atmosphere that made me feel at home. Everything was great, especially for the price, and I’ve travelled enough to say the value is impressive. I’ll come back whenever I’m in Ubud. Lots of love to everyone on staff who helped me out.

Eye-opening stay. We booked a few nights at Firefly Eco Lodge, and the walk through the rice terraces from the meeting point was pretty, though unnecessary. A taxi can take you to a road nearby, then it’s only about a 2-3 minute walk. We were welcomed with drinks while our room was prepared. The red room upstairs looked nice, as did the lodge generally, and the outdoor bathroom had a pleasant feel. Food and wellness treatments can be ordered at reception, though they seemed a bit pricey. After a night with very little sleep, we asked about moving to a downstairs room with AC. It was extremely hot, my partner could barely sleep, and there were mosquitoes and noise from the common area below. We didn’t get an answer then, and when we came back from breakfast nobody had followed up, so we checked out and stayed elsewhere in Ubud. Later that day the manager apologized repeatedly and offered us a stay at another property, as they have several Airbnbs. On a later visit to Ubud, we used our room credit at the Gold House. It has rice terraces and mosquitoes too, but only a few neighboring houses and an AC in the bedroom. The welcome and house tour were pleasant, and the staff explained things and offered help.
