Junjungan Suite

It’s a peaceful place, and the staff respond when you ask them for something. If you leave the curtains open and go out, they’ll clean the room every day, which I really appreciated since that doesn’t happen everywhere. There isn’t always someone in the office, but you can reach them by phone. Bring earplugs or watch out for geckos in the room if you don’t want to be woken in the middle of the night. They’re everywhere in Indonesia and can be noisy at night.

The breakfasts were delicious, and we really enjoyed our three nights here. One of them was in a little bungalow where we had Indonesian coffee with a lovely view across the rice terraces. Thanks to the manager for letting us switch rooms when a few small things didn’t match what we expected.

Breakfast by the pool was delicious, and there are some cute restaurants nearby. The wooden cottages beside the rice fields have a lovely atmosphere, and the staff are gentle and caring.

The rooms are simple but clean, with AC, toiletries and a cupboard we could lock. Breakfast cost 60.000 each morning, and it was tasty, filling and good value. There are three small pools for swimming or relaxing, with rice paddy views, and the staff are friendly and always happy to help. Getting to Ubud’s main street takes about eight minutes by the hotel taxi, which cost 40.000 in total. It’s also a 40-minute walk along a longer local road past restaurants, rice paddies and a few small convenience stores. That road is narrow and poorly lit in the evening, so keep that in mind. The place is a nice break from Ubud’s busier streets.
