Pondok Buda Merta 2

This is a great place for a couple or family. I stayed for a few days and really enjoyed it. The guy looking after the bungalows was a really nice person. I gave him some homemade pickles. Ask him about renting a scooter and he’ll help get one to you.

Buda and Komang made this a wonderful stay. Buda, the owner, met us where the taxis stop on the main road and went out of his way to help. Komang, the friendly caretaker, stays just outside the villa and is only a Whatsapp message away. They were both incredibly helpful. Nearby, there are a couple of very good Warungs within 100m. Tell them you’re staying at Buda Merta and they’ll deliver for free, and the food is really good. We stayed for a week at Pondok Buda Merta 2, a lovely little place a couple of kilometres from Ubud Central. There are two nearly identical pool villas, Orchid and Rose. The only hassle is the last 100m on a tiny road, and it’s right beside a small creek. The villa itself is a spacious, fully furnished single-bed place, with a clean, not-too-deep private pool and a couple of loungers. It has fast Wifi, air conditioning, a kitchen with a toaster, microwave, fridge, and gas burner, plus a safe in the cupboard. Drinks and water in the fridge cost extra, but the prices are reasonable. High walls keep it private and away from the main roads. Plants all around give it a tropical feel, and sunlight comes through the windows in the mornings. The shower is nicely designed. Message Komang whenever you need the rooms cleaned. This is one of the best pool villas I’ve found in Ubud, and I’ll book again next time. Thanks to Buda and Komang!

I booked from Nov 5 to Nov 8, and it was a great, safe place to stay. Buda owns the property and is a very kind, humble person who helped us throughout and made the trip memorable. Thanks for the hospitality. The villa is just 100m from the main road. That wasn’t a problem for us, as there are other villas nearby and it felt absolutely safe. Someone stays in a security room all the time, which added to that feeling. The high compound walls mean no one can see in, so even bathing outdoors feels private. The pool water was clean and had no chlorine, so we could use it whenever we wanted. There’s a basic kitchen for cooking, just bring whatever ingredients you want. A free bike is available to get around, but you need an international license. The bathroom and whole property are cleaned daily unless you ask them not to, and they provide separate towels for bathing and swimming. There’s a dining table and couch in the living area, plus a safe inside. You can use the fridge for your own drinks, or have the property’s drinks, which cost extra. I’d recommend it to honeymooners.

It feels like home, with everything you need, from kitchen gear to mosquito lotion. There’s a private pool and outdoor seating, and you can get there by motorbike. The area is quiet.
