Pondok Buda Merta

We enjoyed our three-night stay. The room had its own pool, kitchen, bath, and shower, plus AC and a TV in the sleeping area. The minibar was inexpensive, and there were lots of local restaurants and services close by. It’s tucked away, so you can only get there on foot or by scooter, but it’s very quiet with no traffic noise. My only criticism is that the shower walls could use a refresh. I think a good scrub with a brush would help.

The villa was great value for the price, and I’d recommend it. It was clean, beautiful, private, and so quiet, with a nice-sized pool. A car couldn’t reach the gate, but we liked the short walk in and the lovely neighborhood views and atmosphere. The service guys helped us with a smile. Special thanks to Mr. Buda for the warm welcome, great hospitality, and being there for whatever we needed, 24/7. We had three wonderful nights and would come again if I return to Bali.

It’s under a 10-minute drive to Ubud city centre and about five minutes to the Campuhan Ridge Walk. There isn’t a view from the villa, since walls surround it, though there’s a small rice field beyond them. This is a cozy place in a quiet area, with no traffic noise. The villa has one air-conditioned bedroom, an indoor shower and bathtub, and a complete outdoor kitchen with a microwave, stove, toastmaker, and big refrigerator. There’s also a private pool that gets little sunlight, so it’s nice for cooling off after a hot day. You can only reach it by scooter, but scooter rental is included in the villa price. WiFi works fine, the AC gets cold, water pressure is good, and there’s hot water. Shampoo and soap are provided. Breakfast costs extra, but you can order it from a local restaurant for delivery. I’d suggest getting breakfast supplies from the supermarket, a five-minute drive away, and making your own. Cleaning is available daily if you ask, and the owner can help over Whatsapp if anything comes up. One thing to know: if nearby guests sit on their terrace talking at 1 AM, you may hear every word from the bedroom and have trouble sleeping. Still, I’d definitely recommend it for the good value.

We really enjoyed our two nights here. The host was so friendly and welcomed us with drinks. Since cars can’t get to the accommodation, the owners arranged motorcycles to bring us in from the main road, which is about a 10-minute walk away. Thanks for a great stay!
