Pondok Muwa is a very affordable choice for what you get. I've visited Ubud several times, and Pertiwi used to be my regular place, but its prices have gone up quite a bit. I was in a level 2 room, the standard or more expensive option, and it was cheerful with usable air conditioning, a reasonably clean bed, and a lovely view. There was no water, fridge, TV, or kettle in the room. The bathroom was old but had no mold. The rain shower barely trickled, with poor pressure, so I used a pail to bathe. The bathroom door wouldn't lock or even close because part of the handle mechanism was missing. I was traveling alone, so it wasn't a real issue for me. Breakfast was included: coffee, fruit, and banana pancake. On Sunday I heard Gamelan practice from 4 to 6 pm, then some singing or music from CP Lounge, I think, starting at 7. It wasn't loud, but it made it hard to sleep and I needed earplugs. By 1:40 am, the lounge music had stopped, though I don't know when it ended. Just something to keep in mind. Putu, who works 7 am to 5 pm, was very pleasant and seemed to handle everything. For the price, the location, air conditioning, breakfast, and view make it a decent deal.

We'd booked two nights, but left as soon as we saw the room and found somewhere else. Nobody was there when we arrived, and repeated calls to the number on the desk went unanswered. The room key was left in the door. Inside, around a hundred mosquitoes were flying around the lamp, and the place smelled of urine. The bathroom door was broken and the bed had stains. Wouldn't recommend it.

The staff are really sweet, breakfast is amazing, and the room had air conditioning and good Wi-Fi. The first room they gave me smelled of mildew, but I asked to switch and the next one was a lot better. The bathroom still didn't smell great. For the price, it's a really good place, and I'd probably stay again. It's a cute spot, too.

I spent 11 nights at Pondok Muwa on my first visit to Ubud. Though a little tucked away, it's right in the town center near Monkey Forest, between Pura Ulun Carik Muwa and a rice paddy field. The place is simple, neat, and clean, with a roomy shower that has both hot and cold water. It's nothing fancy. Some nearby restaurants play music at night, but it wasn't too much and stopped before midnight. Most of all, the place has a gentle, peaceful feeling where I could properly rest. I slept like a baby the first night. Puto, the main attendant, was kind, friendly, and helpful, and the owner was easy to reach on WhatsApp. They also rent scooters in good condition at a very affordable price. It's far from luxurious, but I felt safe and at home, and I'd highly recommend Pondok Muwa. Suksma, Pondok Muwa 🙏🏽

A neglected guest house with plenty broken or worn-out things. The breakfast was modest but delicious, and the location was great. Cleaning was available on request, but the job was poor. The old sheets were torn and covered in stains left by other guests. There were cobwebs and deeply ingrained dirt, plus broken furniture and old mattresses. The nightly rate for this was 180,000 rupees.
