Rumah Ary Homestay & Spa

We kept coming back to Rumah Ary Homestay during our two months in Bali. My 10-year-old daughter and I moved around about every week to try different areas, and spent around a third of our trip here. Staying in a local family compound was a wonderful way to experience Balinese culture. The rates are economical, and the family keeps prices very fair for their economy. The main road entrance puts you in the center of town, near a large supermarket, small convenience stores, and loads of restaurants, boutiques and cultural activities. The rooms are set at the far back of the property, so despite the road-side entrance, they’re quiet. They’re simple and kept very clean, with working air conditioning, bathroom, hot water and shower. There’s lots of light, and they leave hot water for coffee or tea each morning while cleaning the room. WiFi worked well for us, and our local SIM card gave us endless cellular and internet access for very little cost. Ary, Juli, Mekel, iIluu and the rest of the family were wonderful and welcoming. They helped with all our needs, including trips, transport and scooter rentals. Their kindness and care made our stay special. I found the massages exceptional and very healing, at very fair prices, so it was easy to come back often for last-minute treatments. A guest I met while they were getting a treatment had been returning to their hotel and spa a few times a year for 16 years. That says something positive about the family. I went in on a rainy day for a massage, body scrub and facial. The treatments themselves were great, and the prices were some of the best around Ubud. I really liked the quality of all three services. But I wouldn’t choose this place if you’re after peace and quiet. It’s very loud, and you can hear the traffic on the street. While I was having my treatments, I believe it was the owner watching shows on their phone and texting with the sound on. I could hear the anime show and constant notification and typing sounds. The outside noise can’t be helped, but I would’ve appreciated more respect and a quieter atmosphere, including not being on the phone during my appointment.

The family community running the place made sure we felt at home, and even shared fruit left over from a Balinese birthday for a younger brother. My girlfriend and I both had great massages, and I felt like I was floating for the rest of the day. The stay and the massages were amazing. Thanks so much for the hospitality ❤️🙏

I’ve returned several times because the location is great and the family are so helpful. You can arrange transport and get massages here, which are lovely and very well priced. They also do cute flower designs on nails.
