Ubud Market Hostel

The hostel has a great spot by the market and could be a nice place, but right now it's failing at the basics. I paid €3 a night for a hostel in Thailand that even had a swimming pool, so low prices don't make better standards impossible. I hope this review shocks the owners into improving things. I don't expect the world from a budget hostel, and I've seen LAETI's really stupid comments, but there is no effort to run this place well at all. Avoid it, who knows, maybe you can catch the plague here too 😁. The receptionist didn't show up until I asked men playing cards in the rooms next door to call someone. The bathroom cleaning I saw amounted to flushing the toilet. I had to ask for toilet paper, and the cleaner looked hugely inconvenienced. The full toilet-paper bin was left there, and nothing else in the bathroom was cleaned. No one dared turn on the bathroom light at night because the ventilation fan was REALLY, REALLY loud. The air conditioning was switched off, and when turned on it didn't work. Even the fan ran only sporadically and didn't move. Lights in the sleeping cubicles were broken or missing, with wires sticking out of the wall. There was no hot water in the shower.

Back at Market Hostel for my second stay. It's cheap, the staff are the best, the beds are comfy, and there's a hot shower. Breakfast is banana pancakes, plus free coffee and tea. Right in the middle of the center. What more do you want? 5/5, because that's the top score :)

Nothing fancy, just a very basic hostel. It has air conditioning, and coffee, tea, and drinking water are free. Its location right in the middle of the market is excellent.

The place was extremely dirty, and the sheets and pillow smelled so bad that I ended up taking a cushion from the couch. No one was at reception for hours.
