Villa Tenang – Modern 4BR, Private Pool, Ubud

We spent many evenings with cocktails under the stars, music playing, and the beautiful private pool looking out over rice fields and forest. Everyone had a fantastic time, and I'd absolutely come back next time I'm in Ubud. I stayed for my birthday, and our hosts were kind and welcoming, making sure we had what we needed. They easily arranged everything we asked for. The villa looked just as spectacular as it does in the online photos. For the birthday dinner, they prepared a delicious Balinese BBQ on site, and our manager arranged lovely flowers and decorations that made the evening special. Some reviews mention the narrow road. It wasn't a major issue for us, and seems common in Ubud. Pickups and drop-offs went smoothly, and local drivers are used to those roads. I highly recommend this villa.

We arrived to a rude welcome and check-in, and the place felt like a mess. The photos don't show the poor infrastructure or service. The mattress was broken and sagging, the bed and pillow were dusty, and there were no extra pillows. At 1 AM I was wondering how I could sleep, and woke with neck and back pain. The water pressure was poor, and by the first morning there was no water, so none of our eight could shower. I'm wondering how we're supposed to spend the next two nights here.

The facilities are run down. The access road is narrow, and a large van couldn't bring our eight guests all the way in. There was no small car or buggy available, so we waited over an hour to get from the main road and check in. There was no water, the beds were broken, and there were no extra pillows. We counted just eight glasses, and still had two more nights to stay. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

The host was great, and the property looks just like it does in the photos.
