The grounds were beautiful and clean, the food was good, and the activities were fun and great value. The staff were kind and incredibly accommodating. On the second day of my 8-day yoga retreat, I badly sprained my ankle, which could have ruined our holiday. The owners and staff treated me like family: they drove my husband to the pharmacy, swapped my yoga classes for spa treatments, and kept looking after me. I’d absolutely recommend it.

The yoga instructors were friendly and experienced, and we had very good classes every day. I appreciated having the same instructors, unlike another resort I’d stayed at where each session had a different outsourced teacher and there was no chance to build a teacher-student connection. The two massages we had were wonderful too, with skilled, experienced therapists. Staff were friendly and accommodating, including the four resident cats. Restaurant service was great and flexible: they let me swap the fried noodles in the standard offering for fried rice. They’ll also top up your room water bottle with as much free mineral water as you need. My wife and I chose the 4D/3N Yoga package at Hotel Villa Ubud in Oct'2019, and we had a positive stay overall. It’s a well-kept, charming little villa set in peaceful natural surroundings, with just 10 rooms, so it never felt crowded. There’s a great pool with shaded chairs and places to relax, rice fields behind the Yoga area, and a free two-way shuttle with four schedules into the town center. The room was spacious and promptly cleaned each morning while we were at yoga. Breakfast had a good selection and quality. Lunch was OK, though there wasn’t much choice, and dinner was a little better, with dessert included. The only downside was a slightly noisy ceiling fan when switched on. We turned it off at night and used the air-con, so it wasn’t a big deal. I’d definitely stay again. We enjoyed the hassle-free visit and had no problems with the food menu.

I’d definitely recommend this stay to other travelers. As a solo guest, I felt comfortable and welcomed, and I even got a take-away breakfast for my departure morning. The food was great, my room was amazing and I think I got a free big upgrade. Staff were very friendly, the yoga brought peace and energy to the soul, and the massage felt healing. The shuttle went back and forth to Ubud centre, and the cats were adorable. The toilet could use renovation, though. I made good friends with other solo travelers, a group of travelers, and an elder couple. Thanks, Villa Ubud, for making my last week in Bali the greatest :)

I wouldn’t recommend this retreat to a friend. I spent six days at Hotel Villa Ubud in Mar 2019, and the bad outweighed the good. The bedbugs were awful, and I was still recovering a week later. They stopped the day after I left. When I asked about a partial refund for checking out early because of them, the owner yelled at me to intimidate me, and refused even the $20 credit I suggested. The massage was extremely deep and left me bruised the next day despite my request for light pressure. I heard similar feedback from another guest. Hot water also went out several times, always in the middle of my shower. There were some positives: the grounds were well-kept and the pool was relaxing, staff were friendly, and breakfast had lots of options. The yoga classes were basic but good, though repetitive. If you do yoga regularly, you’ll probably be disappointed. With so many retreat options in Ubud, I’d try somewhere else.

The grounds at Villa Ubud are stunning, and I loved both my room and the pool. It was a relief to be outside Ubud’s crazy busy town. The staff were amazing, helpful with absolutely any request, and greeted us with those big Balinese smiles. I met several lovely fellow yogis during my 12-day stay. I’m a beginner to intermediate yogi and really enjoyed the instructors, their teaching, and the adjustments, which I’m grateful for. Nyoman’s massages were wonderful too. She’s small but mighty. I fully intend to visit beautiful Villa Ubud again. Loved it!
