Wonder-Land Villa

The staff seemed friendly, and it looks like a family run place, which I usually like supporting. It’s a shame the hotel isn’t managed better. We stayed two nights, and I wouldn’t come back to Wonder-land Villa. Breakfast was decent and the location was good, but the price felt high. There was no room service, and after the first night they didn’t replace water, coffee, or towels. There’s no phone in the room, so you have to walk to reception, and soap was the only toiletry provided. The pool was dirty and unusable, and we found mosquitoes, ants, and cockroaches in the room. We asked for an adapter and were told another guest had it, even though we were the only guests there. It left us feeling that we’d been lied to. We stayed at two nearby hotels for less and got much better service.

The Wi-Fi, air conditioning, and location were good, but the room had no phone. To ask for help, you have to walk quite a distance to the reception desk. The view was terrible, and although Indonesian and American breakfasts were offered, only American breakfast was available when we ordered in the morning. I booked for two adults, but came with my spouse and our five-year-old son and was charged extra for him. I checked Traveloka, where I booked, and couldn’t find anything about a fee for bringing a child. Soap was the only toiletry.

The villas sit among nature, set back from the main street, so it’s peaceful but still close to everything in Ubud. The rooms are spacious, with hot water, air conditioning, internet, and a private pool. The internet wasn’t great and the air conditioner was noisy, but the pool was awesome. Staff give you a WhatsApp number for requests like cleaning or orders. It’s not luxurious, though it’s good value, and I’d gladly return. Suksma 🙏

The room was ordinary for a price of about 800K Indonesian, and the pool wasn’t clean. There were lots of insects in the room, which made me scared. On my first day the water stopped, then came back after about 10 minutes. It stopped again while I was trying to clean up after using the toilet, and the same problem still hadn’t been fixed on day two. I was unhappy and wanted to check out, but couldn’t get my money back, so I had to stay because I’d already paid for the week. I don’t recommend it, though you can try one night and see for yourself.
