I’m giving this place two stars because of what happened with my money. On checkout day, I left cash in the front compartment of my rented scooter for its owner to pick up later. The receptionist saw me put it there and insisted on holding the scooter key “to keep it safe.” When the owner came that evening, the money was gone. The street is extremely quiet, and I can’t see how anyone could have opened the scooter outside the hotel unnoticed. The receptionist was the only person who knew about the cash and had the key the whole time. I can’t lay out every detail here, but the facts are clear to me, and I know it was him. I’m convinced the money disappeared after the receptionist took the key. Given other guests’ reports of missing money, this is unacceptable, and the hotel should act immediately to stop it happening again. Before that, I’d noticed a few theft complaints in reviews, but assumed they might be a misunderstanding because there weren’t many. I stayed three nights with my girlfriend. The place itself was decent for the price: the pool was nice, the room was clean, the facilities were thoughtfully arranged, and the location was fine. There were little things to improve, like having tea or coffee when there’s a kettle in the room, and making the staff friendlier. Those issues alone wouldn’t have lowered my rating.
