We left the next day because we didn’t feel comfortable staying somewhere a rat could get into the room. The man on site was kind and apologetic, and we understood it wasn’t his fault. We hadn’t left any food out, since we know ants can be an issue in Bali. On our second night, though, we heard a noise in the kitchen and thought someone might be in the room. When we switched on the light, a huge rat ran up the wall and escaped through a small hole above the door. We later found an unopened packet of biscuits. We were worried it would come back, and couldn’t sleep that night. We hadn’t planned to write a review because the staff member was so lovely and understanding. But it’s been four weeks and the owner still hasn’t refunded the night we didn’t stay. I know there are refund policies, but I don’t think they should apply when a property has a rat problem. I hope the manager addresses this right away for the health and safety of future guests.
