The surf spots were easy to reach, about 15 minutes away. But I came to Bali expecting things to be cheaper, and for what we paid I was disappointed. The place looked more run-down than the photos, the plants were dead or dying, and the shower head in my room was broken. We got one bath towel per person and just one hand towel, and getting extras was a pain. We stayed a week and were charged 30k for water refills. It isn't much, but my brother, who's lived on the island, told me refills are usually free. Dogs barked all night too. The Airbnb listing looked romantic and charming, but it didn't feel that way, and I don't think I got my money's worth. There was a lot of trash in the surrounding area, which doesn't seem unusual for Bali. Edit: the nice photos must be from unit 2, because unit 1 was exactly as I described. The little kitchen trash bin wasn't covered, and it attracted loads of different flies and other bugs.

We really enjoyed our two months here, and Amran and Igor were friendly, smiling, and always interested in how our day went. They welcomed us, answered questions quickly, helped sort out problems, and kept the villa reasonably clean. They also picked up and delivered our laundry. The road is quiet, with no nearby construction, and the villa is fairly private, with no other villas looking in. For a reasonably priced two-bedroom place in Ungasan, it's a good option if you want attentive staff and a good night's sleep. The bedrooms and pool are a nice size, and the upstairs room gets lots of natural light. There were some things that could be improved, though. The downstairs bedroom stayed damp and smelled musty despite the dehumidifier; mold remained, and there were cockroaches, probably because of the damp. The upstairs bathroom drain smelled strongly when the shower was on. The clean towels had stains and holes and could use replacing. The water ran out completely three times. Once it happened midway through a nighttime shower, and we had to finish in the neighboring villa. The team apologized and fixed it as quickly as they could. A pile of rubbish and building scraps sat on the driveway. We got used to it and it didn't get in the way, but it wasn't a good first impression. Most days, locals burned rubbish next door. Plastic fumes filled the rooftop and balcony and could get into the upstairs bedroom even with the doors shut. It's something to keep in mind when booking, though, as I mentioned, rubbish burning unfortunately happens on most roads in south Bali.

I spent a fantastic month here with my friends. The villa was beautiful and comfortable, and its location worked perfectly for our vacation. What really made the difference was Igo, who was always available, kind, helpful, and attentive. He did everything he could to make our stay better, so we could enjoy ourselves without worrying. Huge thanks to Igo, a rare gem and the real added value of the experience!
