Hotel Jemmy

The employees were friendly, but the owner was a bit grumpy. I booked the cheapest room and found it was like a boarding house, with no soap or towels. Tea was only brought in the morning if you asked. For that price, I’d rather pay a little more and get better service and facilities.

It’s a basic hotel with rooms that have either a fan or air conditioning. In the morning they bring a light snack with tea or coffee. There’s no hot water, and the bathroom uses a simple bucket flush. That didn’t bother me, though it might bother some people. It’s a shame there seems to be no Wi-Fi in the rooms or the main area, so plan on using your data. The staff were friendly and spoke a little English. I was quite happy with my stay.

I’ve stayed here a few times in a standard room, and it’s pretty good for a budget traveler. It’s among the cheapest and best choices: not only affordable, but quite clean and right in the center of town.

In Waingapu, Hotel Jemmy is a solid-value place to stay. My room was clean and had air conditioning and hot water, and I didn’t see any bugs. The staff were very accommodating.
