Breakfast was prepared and served every morning, and the staff and owner were both helpful and nice. We had a private room that was modernly furnished and well organized, plus a spacious terrace with a jacuzzi, BBQ, and a relaxed living room overlooking the mountains. We came during the rainy season, though, so we couldn’t see the sunset from the jacuzzi. I visited the villa for our honeymoon, and it was a great choice. Staying at Amidala was the highlight of our trip.

Via, who works there, was kind and helpful, and she cooks really well. We were there for three nights as a family, with two rooms upstairs that gave us a nice bit of privacy. We loved having breakfast and dinner on the cozy terrace. It was a great place to rest between two visits in East Sumba. Highly recommended.

The owners know Sumba well and are happy to arrange tours around the island. Villa Amidala is a lovely place to stay, with beautiful furnishings and fittings and a friendly welcome. The bedrooms are comfortable and well equipped, with big beds and air conditioning. There’s also a small swimming pool and a jacuzzi on the verandah. For an island that isn’t especially known for its cuisine, the food here is tasty and varied, with both European and Indonesian options. Definitely the nicest place to stay on Sumba.

The jacuzzi on the terrace was amazing, and the staff and owners were super friendly. They can organize excursions as a base for exploring the area, and car and moped rentals are available with or without a driver. I enjoyed every minute of the stay arranged by the owners, Klara and Zoltan. This is the best accommodation around Waingapu. I’ll definitely come back for a longer stay!
