Hotel Dafam Wonosobo

The room was huge and had a breathtaking view, and the reception staff were really nice. The problem was the bedding: the first sheets we found were dirty, so we called downstairs. Someone brought replacements about 10 minutes later, but those had plenty of filthy spots too. There were also stains on the room chair. We left really disappointed.

The mountain, river, and little waterfall views come together beautifully, and we found the room clean, contemporary, and suited to younger guests. Staff were friendly, service was quick, and breakfast tasted good. Still, the place felt more like a 3-star hotel to me than a 4-star one. The facade, building, and lobby are small, and the breakfast choice is limited. The mountain-view room costs too much for this standard, even if the view is what they're selling. Getting around can be awkward. The parking itself is spacious, but the ramp down is so narrow only one car fits. The stairs, hallway, restaurant, and meeting rooms are all dark, with black concrete throughout. There are stairs everywhere, including a dark, narrow, steep flight to the restaurant and another down to the pool, so it's not friendly for older people. The two pools are 1.5 m and 1.35 m deep, which is too deep for little kids. They have life jackets, but only in large sizes.

The restaurant atmosphere is what I'd come back for, eating there with the shy peak of Mount Sindoro in the background. I picked the hotel for the Dieng Caldera Race, and the spacious room, amazing breakfast, and very helpful staff were all great too. They even arranged breakfast at 3:30 a.m. for guests taking part in the DCR. That thoughtfulness really stood out.

The design is lovely, and the bed was comfortable in a clean room. The size worked fine for me alone, but felt cramped with two people.
