This place felt like a horror motel. No mineral water was provided, and the furniture was worn, scratched, and outdated. The bathroom was dirty, the toilet leaked, and the lighting was so low it felt a bit spooky. There were no amenities, and the AC didn’t cool properly. The bed was awful, an old spring mattress that left me aching and awake, with dusty, dirty sheets that seemed not to have been washed all week. Worst of all, someone tried to come in at 11:25 at night without knocking. When I shouted to ask who it was, he said room service and then disappeared. We hadn’t ordered anything, and it left us scared and unsafe. We tried to complain, but there was no receptionist on duty.

The hotel is conveniently placed near Malioboro, the Jogja Palace, and plenty of restaurants, so it could be a good base for a holiday. It’s an old property that needs a lot of renovation, though. My room strongly smelled of tobacco smoke, which was a problem because I’m allergic. Staff changed the bed cover after I asked, but the towels were dirty and smelled bad. If they made improvements, I’d recommend it for its strategic location near malioboro.
